The administration now saying almost a thousand children are “ineligible” for return because the parents were already deported. I can’t even imagine the horror being experienced by hundreds of parents as well as their children. The ineptitude, the cruelty, is unimaginable. #aclu

Doesn’t that mean the children will be reunited with their parents, which is a good thing, or am I missing something?

Not if they’ve already been deported.

That’s not making any sense. If the parents already got deported, and then the kids get deported subsequently, then they will all be reunited! Unless the kids get deported to another country. Could you elucidate what I’m missing here please?

When people get deported, the government doesn’t keep track of where they go once they are sent back to their country.

Thank you! I think they absolve themselves of any responsibility as soon as the airplane lifts off. However, when minors are involved, they absolutely should do whatever they can and go above and beyond their duty to ensure they’re safe, sound and reunited.
