Imagine a woman who made a desperate journey with her child, trying to make it to a place where maybe they could live a better life. Her child is taken away when she gets here; she’s deported is now in some village not knowing where her child is & with no way of ever finding out.

. Shouldn’t people be doing things correctly and legally? Shouldn’t they be counting the cost of what they are doing? Certainly there is always room for compassion, but people must be responsible.

I can’t. When I try to put myself in her shoes it’s too painful so my brain pulls back. Empathy remains and so does the feeling of being powerless.

In effect, we are punishing asylum seekers who escape gang violence and persecution. If we lose our humanity and fail to protect children, then what freedom are we fighting for?

I can’t!!! In NO lifetime do I cross a line knowing my child might get taken from me...See, I’m a Mom, NO way I put my child at risk!! NO way I hear that, watch it happen to others in front of me & continue that path!! NO way!! But that’s me taking responsibility for my choices!

Recently traveling in Mexico, I spoke to some people that I met. They expressed their frustration with increasing violence in their hometown, Veracruz. They said, drug dealers from South America bring drugs thru Mexico to fulfill US demand. 1/2
