Only when we apply the same level of psychological insight to what happens within our collective psyche that we apply to our individual lives will we begin to break free of our abusive relationship to a political system that places its own wealth and power before any semblance of concern for democracy or the common good.

I was talking about something slightly different. I made my comment separate from the Ryan Grim tweet because your reply made me realize my point seemed only to be referring to that one example. I’m referring to a larger picture.

It’s connected to the codependent entrancement by which many Democrats continue to allow the party to be hollowed out of its moral authority - not only on this but on other issues as well. Biden calls himself the climate President because of healthy green investments in the Inflation Reduction Act, but he has given more oil drilling permits than even Trump did plus he okayed the Willow project. Those two things together completely nullify the benefits of the IRA investments. The Democratic Party should be the conduit for the sense of urgency Kalmus says is lacking. But they don’t have to be because too few hold them accountable. Major environmental voices continue to go along, to accept the betrayal of the climate movement with nothing stronger than whining on twitter when in fact there is a candidate arguing everything they say they wish for. Some groups have even endorsed him. The silent conspirators are everywhere.
This is really strange and we should be puzzled by it. Why doesn't the self-preservation instinct kick in? Do people who say they believe climate science kind of NOT believe it on some level? What explains the total lack of any urgency? It's a real mystery of human psychology.

Election interference by foreign governments exists, but election interference right here at home is beyond what most people have any idea. The naïveté by which supposedly sophisticated people allow themselves to be led around by the nose when it comes to media and online manipulation is one of the most self-defeating characteristics of modern progressives.

I've always understood that Israel's siege on Gaza is morally indefensible and has caused immense suffering to Palestinians living there, but I had mistakenly assumed that Israel's withdrawal of settlements from Gaza in 2005 meant the term "occupation" no longer applied to Israel's control of the strip. I'm now learning that the UN and many leading international bodies and human rights organizations continue to regard Gaza as part of the occupied territories, so I stand corrected on my earlier remarks suggesting otherwise. But more importantly, as President, I will fight for a future free of siege and occupation; one where every Israeli and every Palestinian can live in safety, dignity, and freedom.

There's great misrepresentation of my views (hardly new) bouncing around the internet today, and I'm posting my videos on the subject for those who are interested. I won't be getting into conversation about it on twitter, but I'd like my actual work to be represented rather than words taken out of context. I'm not expecting everyone to agree with me, nor is that my goal. But projection and slander aren't the stuff of meaningful debate.

The worst part about the student loan debt is not just that it exists, but WHY it exists. Its very existence is the product of a predatory system that turned the eagerness of young people to get an education, to better their lives, into a profit center for lenders/banks/govt. Public policy should set our young people up to win, not cut them off at their knees.newsweek.com/dying-student-d…
