Thank you. If “experience and pragmatism” is placed in the service of a soulless economic perspective, as it is now, then what does it do for us? Some of the most tyrannous leaders in the world are “experienced and pragmatic.” The experience we most need now is recognizing the deeper dynamics of a situation - particularly those of an unjust system - and the ability to articulate and transform them. FDR said “the biggest job of the presidency is not administrative, but rather moral leadership.”

Enough to know that the business/economy/international trade paradigm that dominates our society does so at the expense of the majority of people who live in this country, as well as the planet itself.

🚨NEWS: Democrats are considering passing new GOP legislation giving corporations the right to vote. The bill follows another state that considered legislation that would have allowed corporations to form their own governments. levernews.com/the-city-poise…

Democratic voters have a right to hear all their options, unfiltered by elite narratives about who and who isn’t “credible” (translation: ready and able to perpetuate the system as it is)

They’re in the middle of a counteroffensive right now. No one can say they’re crushing it, but it can’t be said that Russia is crushing it either.

How do you suggest we create a cease-fire right now? If we withhold all support from Ukraine, there will not be a cease-fire. Russia will simply crush Ukraine. How is that a pro-peace position? Obviously we should support a negotiated settlement! All efforts in that direction, such as a summit proposed by Denmark, we should support! But simply saying “I’m pro peace” without saying how this would actually be achieved, is just a “let Russia crush Ukraine now” position. That is not a peaceful scenario. The “settlement” would simply be the end of a sovereign nation.

Our system is a little more than a giveaway to the rich at the expense of the poor. And status quo will not disrupt itself.

When Biden took office and had a Democratic House and Senate, there was never a mention of repealing that tax cut. (The middle-class part of the tax cut was good. The tax cuts to the very wealthy should have been repealed, the middle class cuts should have been immediately put back in.)

The money was not and is not used to reinvest or to create jobs. It goes to stock dividends and stock buybacks. Companies that already make billions of dollars in profit are then handed more billions by the taxpayers.

In 2017, Congress passed a $2 trillion tax cut where $.83 of every dollar went to the very top earners and richest corporations. The tax cut will never pay for itself. 🧵

Make sure you check in with them regularly so they can tell you what you think.
MSNBC's @ChrisJansing: Biden's not campaigning much because he doesn't "have a serious challenger" USA Today's @SusanPage: "Joe Biden has the great luxury of not having a credible primary opponent"

I didn't mean to sound like I object to calling it a proxy war; it IS a proxy war. All I meant to say was that it's not only that ... that the analysis can't stop there.

We should never forget the meaning of this day. Of all the things in our national history, its meaning should be taught to our children and etched on our hearts. Juneteenth is a part of who we are. My newest substack: open.substack.com/pub/marian…

She’s right. Day one in office, I will cancel all government contracts with union busting companies.
NEVER underestimate the depths employers will stoop to in their feverish attempts to defeat their workers' union organizing efforts.

A Canadian woman living in the United States was shocked when she compared the #ingredients in two #Heinz #ketchup bottles — one manufactured in the U.S. and one in Canada. Heinz Tomato Ketchup (America): Tomato concentrate from red ripe tomatoes, distilled vinegar, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, salt, spice, onion powder, natural flavoring.
