Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has signed the infamous bill to expand child labor in the state. The legislation allows kids as young as 14 to work six-hour shifts on school nights, and to work dangerous jobs in demolition, on assembly lines, operating power saws, and more.

We worked so hard to get more women in office, thinking they would give more attention to things like the welfare of our children. Heartbreaking to see two women governors, Arkansas @GovSHuckabee and Iowa @IAGovernor, now leading the charge in gutting child labor laws. desmoinesregister.com/story/…

Hint: where there are the most train derailments and the most toxic water.
The EPA allows polluters to turn neighborhoods into “sacrifice zones” where residents breathe carcinogens. ProPublica reveals where these places are in a first-of-its-kind map and data analysis. propublica.org/article/toxma…

Have you been to East Palestine?

Several weeks ago I went to East Palestine and heard many stories like the one in this article. Their safety sacrificed by Norfolk Southern, abandoned by state and federal governments, unable to absorb either the emotional or political or economic losses, good people are simply left to do the best they can to carry on with their lives. The level of this tragedy is exceeded only by the level of our failure to respond. unionprogress.com/2023/05/30…

What's going on here? In America, if a citizen wants to say "This is why we don't like cops here," they get to say that. Cops don't then get to attack them for daring to say it. Police should be present at Gay Pride to protect the gay population from dangerous prejudice. They're not there to be an expression of it themselves.

Are you seriously thinking that all the things I mentioned are things that he tried to do but Congress just wouldn’t let him?

Serious about 1 in 4 Americans in medical debt. Serious about 1/3 of America's workforce working for less than $15/hr and unable to afford a place to live. Serious about the dangers of ramping up fossil fuel extraction when we need to be ramping it down. Serious about the highest poverty rate here than any other advanced democracy. Serious about the obscenely bloated defense budget. Serious about the carcinogens in our food, water and air. Serious about corporate tyranny. Serious about people rationing their insulin. Serious about our urgent need to replace all the unserious people you probably consider serious.

It's getting out of hand. A friend of mine put this quote from one of my books on her FB page: "When an idea reaches critical mass there is no stopping the shift its presence will induce." Within minutes she got a warning from FB flagging that this was "false and misleading information" and that her account would be demonetized (she wasn't even running ads, so that didn't matter). Stand strong, Peter. If your twitter account is closed, many of us will still find ways to hear you.
