America’s official position seems to be “OK Israel, get the war over with and then we need to talk immediately about a two state solution.” Our position should be the opposite: Stop a war that can ultimately do little more than increase the bloodshed, multiplying tragedy and hatred. 2/4

Preparation for a full scale invasion of Gaza has begun, a sense of dread now filling the air reminiscent of the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003. As everyone is aware, there is no guarantee the war will not expand beyond Israel and Palestine. This is an extraordinarily dangerous moment for the world. 1/4

You are correct. I apologize. I am correcting this now.

This is a different situation, more analogous to the Viet Cong than to ISIS.

For every Hamas fighter killed in this war, the war will create 10 more. The way to peace and security for Israel is not through military action, and it is in large part that delusion that brought us to where we are. The only alternative to radical tragedy here is through a choice for radical justice. Both Arab and Jew must summon their highest, most enlightened selves right now and build a bridge to a future unlike the past. Such leaders exist and they must now rise up. It is they who should receive American support.

Another mass shooting, this time in Maine. My answer to a question about guns during my CNN Townhall in 2020 remains the same. A majority of Republicans as well as Democrats, including gun owners, want common sense gun safety laws such as a ban on assault weapons, federal red flag laws and universal background checks. The fact that we don't have them has nothing to do with the Second Amendment, and everything to do with the unadulterated greed of gun manufacturers. None of this will change until the people rise up.

Child labor is child abuse, and those who participate in it should be held strictly accountable. The gutting of our child labor laws is a strategized predatory exploitation of unaccompanied minors. There should be more than civil penalties for this; there should be criminal ones. Financial penalty for harming a child would be seen by some as simply the cost of doing business.
With child labor violations rising dramatically, four Democratic Senators have introduced a bill to: - Increase the civil penalty from $11,000 to $151,380 - Increase the criminal fine from $10,000 to $750,000 - Increase the minimum child labor penalty to $75,000 And more.

Federal red flag laws do not infringe on the 2nd Amendment. Universal background checks do not infringe on the 2nd Amendment. Banning assault weapons does not infringe on the 2nd Amendment. Banning high-capacity magazines & bump stocks does not infringe on the 2nd amendment.

Hours before yesterday’s shooting in Maine, the Senate passed an amendment allowing veterans declared mentally unfit to still be allowed access to guns. How disgusting is this? rollingstone.com/politics/po…

Darn right, Mr. Speaker. So is a ban on assault weapons, universal background checks, banning bump stocks and high-capacity magazines, and more. Using prayer as cover for the political unwillingness to address earthly problems is a mockery of faith. 2/3

Responded to the mass shooting in Maine last night, our new Speaker of the House said prayer is appropriate at a time like this. That’s it. That was his response. 1/3

The Presidents campaign has announced he will not be on the primary ballot in New Hampshire next year. I am. While the DNC has warned us to stop campaigning in New Hampshire as per its new rules, New Hampshire’s primary should not be fodder for the shenanigans of a political party. Granite Staters have decided for themselves when their primary will be, and I honor that. Something as important as a presidential election should not be subject to the whims of a political machine, and the DNC should not be able to override the voice of New Hampshire voters. I will be campaigning there in deference to the laws of the Granite State, not staying away in deference to the rules of the DNC. In a country where rampant costs for even the necessities of life make America too expensive for millions of Americans, and hopelessness and despair invade the lives of far too many, our campaign is charting a new economic path forward. Let Granite Staters decide the value of that conversation, for them and for the rest of the nation.
