The situation I described above is a plutocracy, not a democracy.
So yes, the "better system" is a representative democracy no longer undercut by the undue influence of corporate and billionaire money.

With their money and lobbyists, they dictate to the government.
Governments accommodate the corporations, thus destroying the middle class.
