Certainly better than anything the Republicans are offering, considering that every one of them voted against ANY reduction in drug prices. Having said that, the cap should be as close to zero as possible, as it is in other countries. And for everyone not only those on Medicare
Starting in January, we’re capping the cost of insulin for seniors on Medicare at $35 a month. That’s more money at the end of the month to pay for groceries, to get your car repaired, to put toward holiday shopping for your grandkids.

Our foundational principles were and are brilliant; it’s our historical behavior, often violently contrary to our principles, that’s the problem. No generation of Americans has fully actualized those principles -some have more than others -but it’s every generation’s task to try

There’s always been a tragic gap between principles on which we purport to stand & our own often violent transgressions against them; 41 of 56 signers of Dec of Independence were slave owners. It’s the job of each generation to try to close the gap. Some have & now it’s our turn

We will end the aberrational era in which short term corporate profit maximization became the governing principle of the United States under a corrupt political establishment, and replace it with the humanitarian and democratic values that are our original foundational principles

You’re leaving out the two biggest revolutions of the 20th century: the Indian Independence movement that cast out of their country the colonial power of Great Britain, and the civil rights movement in the United States in the 1960s

That has been since then though. He was extremely successful then! Both the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act were accomplished, dismantling segregation. SCOTUS gutted the Voting Rights Act a few years ago, which is why we are where we are today with voter suppression.

The only antidote to a violent revolution at this point is that we wage a peaceful one against the corporatist politics that produced so much dysfunction to begin with.

Throughout history when authoritarian forces have been on the rise, Jews have become a common scapegoat. To see those who consider themselves left leaning thinkers embrace the antisemitic tropes on the rise today is heartbreaking. Antisemitism is racism. mariannewilliamson.substack.…

Elon Musk owning Twitter is weird enough. Saudi Arabia partnering with him to become the second largest shareholder takes it to a whole other level of wait wut? Given how dedicated they are to human freedom and all. cnn.com/2022/10/31/tech/murp…

This is the problem with limiting the focus of mental health concern to the individual. For millions of Americans the economic system is so rigged against them that simply trying to survive is traumatizing. That’s not a mental health problem; it’s an economic injustice problem
Depressing how much of healing from trauma comes down to ‘remind yourself that you’re safe now!’ when such a large percentage of the population is like one missed paycheck away from complete ruin and is not, in fact, safe and maybe never will be

There’s a lot to this. We become obsessed by the symptoms but we resist looking at the deeper disease.
Biggest causes of learning loss in the USA: -homelessness -childhood hunger -parental chronic illness + lack of healthcare access -medical bankruptcy -poor labor conditions resulting in multiple parental jobs & limited time home with kids Spare me disingenuous pandemic concern.
