I’m with the writers here. The writers’ strike is an embodiment of what’s happening in industry after industry. The fact that people are standing up to unfettered greed, that unions are owning their power and being supported by the public the way they are today, is a very good thing. #ANewBeginning
Went on CNN to explain why writers are striking, ended up roasting their bosses' salary.

My God.
This is a devastating article. The scope of sexual assault perpetrated by the U.S. military--as well as U.S. police domestically every single day--is unfathomable. One of the great, ongoing crimes of history. nytimes.com/2023/05/02/world…

Our political elite: ….don’t seriously advocate for children because children can’t vote and have no financial leverage. ….don’t seriously advocate for the poor because the poor are so weighed down they don’t vote in large numbers. …and think we’re such fools, or as callous as they, that we the people won’t notice or care. Vote your conscience. Prove them wrong.

A moral crisis in America is not just poverty but the millions of near poor, those who live their lives with a gnawing realization that they’re just hanging on. We cut child poverty in half with the Child Tax Credit…but when it came time for the tax credit to expire six months later, our leaders didn’t bother to permanentize it. America’s poverty rate is the highest of any advanced democracy. It is the result of soulless economic policies that are eroding our society and riddling it with despair. It’s not enough to simply want to reduce poverty... We need to be more than “concerned.” Let’s be a generation of poverty abolitionists.

Streaming has bulldozed the traditional Hollywood writer’s system, allowing studios to get away with under-paying and under-employing writers… signing them to smaller contracts, for less time, no raises to account for inflation, no residual income, keeping writers at minimum deals for decades with no advancement… basically turning what could have been a sustainable career into a gig economy where writers are competing harder for less and less freelance scraps. All the while studios post record profits year over year. GO WRITERS!!

Huge support for striking writers…
The Board of Directors of the @WGAwest and the Council of the @WGAeast, acting upon the authority granted to them by their memberships, have voted unanimously to call a strike, effective 12:01 AM, Tuesday, May 2.

“If America’s poor founded a country, that country would have a bigger population than Australia, or Venezuela. Almost one in nine Americans, - including one and eight children - live in poverty. There are more than 38 million people living in the United States who cannot afford basic necessities….” — Matthew Desmond, POVERTY, BY AMERiCA

Such a brave, soulful woman. “If we’re all just silent about it and go about our merry way, then nothing will ever change…”
This a 6:31 minute long video and I know that most ppl’s attention span is a minute at most, but what is happening to girls and women in Afghanistan should be a concern to all because what’s happening yo girls and women in Afghanistan will impact the rest of the world and you sooner than you may think. If you do end up watching to the end, I hope you take action and do your part. If you have other thoughts and ideas share away please. #Afghanistan #AfghanWomen

A generation that cares about the future habitability of the planet will not be lining up to vote for a president who has so let us down on the issue of the climate crisis.
My latest column calls out President Biden for caving to the fossil fuel industry as it continues to destroy the planet. In the 2020 campaign, Biden pledged: “No more drilling on federal lands" yet he's signed off on more oil and gas leases than Trump. Indefensible.
