One in four Americans live with medical debt. 18 million Americans cannot afford to fulfill prescriptions given them by their doctors. 68,000 people a year die of lack of healthcare. 500,000 medical bankruptcies a year. But health insurers spent $141 billion on stock buybacks, leeching off people’s despair. This tyranny is going to end soon. #Medicare4All
(1/6) LATEST: Health insurers spent nearly $141 billion buying back their own shares of stock from 2007-2022 to benefit their top execs and Wall Street investors while premiums and deductibles have skyrocketed for millions of Americans. Here's how we got here:

The issues in a campaign like mine are issues that a vast majority of Americans agree with. I don’t stand for those issues because I know we’ll win. I stand for them because I know they’re important. No candidate has a guarantee that they’ll win, or that they’ll lose. The point is to just keep pushing. I agree with Cenk Uygur when he said, “Somebody is going to break through.” And that’s enough, just knowing that. If we push hard enough, somebody is going to break through…

True.
UK and Japan have very tight gun control. We have almost none. They have no mass shootings, we average more than one a day. Our gun deaths average about 300 times UK's and about 600 times Japan's. Saying gun control doesn't work is either brazen lying or complete ignorance.

We can turn around. We absolutely can. But we have to make it happen. Please listen to my speech on May 18th, tell your friends about it, and donate to the campaign so we can further the movement that is going to make it so. secure.actblue.com/donate/ma…

Roosevelt would have given it to them, and to the best of my ability so will I. We need more than a piecemeal, incremental approach to repairing this country. Poll after poll shows Americans feel that we are moving in the wrong direction. Why is that? Because we are.

Shortly before he died, President Franklin Roosevelt asked the American people what they wanted after the war. They wanted health care. They wanted education. They wanted housing. They wanted a livable wage. And what Americans wanted then, Americans want now.

We need more than a piecemeal, incremental approach to repairing this country. We need a new vision. We need fundamental economic reform. We need a 21st Century Economic Bill of Rights.

Child labor is a disgrace that our country should never, ever revisit. We need a Department of Children and Youth to ensure our nation’s children are protected and cared for.

A vulture, crony form of capitalism now reaches its tentacles into every corner of our lives, feeding on the desperation of people simply trying to get healthcare, a decent education, or even a place to live. Nothing’s more heinous than making children the victims of that tyranny - a helpless population with zero capacity to defend or advocate for  itself. As president, I would establish the United States Department of Children and Youth. Anyone who wants to mess with children is going to have to go through me.  I want children to eat well. I want to have them to have universal healthcare. I want them to be safe. I want them to have the best education in the world, all the way through higher education and tech school. I want them to be set up for good jobs and good lives. I want them to grow up into young adults who love this country because they know that their government had their back, supporting and not thwarting their dreams. Https://marianne2024.com/iss…

I have called her out repeatedly, as well as Governor Kim Reynolds who is trying to do the same thing in Iowa.

The Biden administration needs to put an end to this immediately. Not only are a few states working to gut child labor laws, but the laws we already have are not being vigorously enough enforced.
These photos show children working in a Nebraska slaughterhouse – their faces are obscured. The Labor Department found more than 100 children were working in dangerous conditions, some reporting chemical burns. 60 Minutes reports, tonight.

I will be out of the country because my daughter is having a baby, but otherwise I would be there. I hope many thousands of others will be too. #BanAssaultWeapons
🧵 In 2018, my cousin & best friend Alex Schachter was killed by a gunman with an AR15 in Parkland. I am sick & tired of congressional inaction. On June 6th, I will sit-in at the US Capitol to demand a vote to #BanAssaultWeapons. I invite others to join me.

Political figures who have demonized immigrants in order to build up their credibility with the far right, share in the responsibility for this violence.
At least 7 people are dead and at least half a dozen are injured after a Texas driver “intentionally” drove a Range Rover into a crowd of migrants outside a Catholic Charities shelter in Brownsville, Texas today.
