Important to remember that history does not move in a straight line.
Things can get worse and then get better again.
On Sunday the Chilean people can vote for a new constitution, replacing the old anti-democratic one written by the dictator Pinochet with a new one guaranteeing rights to health, housing, education, and a habitable planet. I am proud to support this effort.

Few people contribute as much in one lifetime as did author Barbara Ehrenreich.
Her books reveal the dark underbelly of American prosperity, things you can never unsee once you've seen them.
Wherever she is now there are angels singing "Job well done."

Your mother was one of the most inspiring women in this country. Her contribution was enormous, and something the rest of us will look up to and seek to emulate for many years to come.
My deepest condolences. I will continue to learn from her, as her words will live on.

The entire document is the structure for a representative system of government, in which people have the right to express their will through those they elect.
Which is....a democracy.

Excellent point. That's why there should be paid family leave, free daycare and pre-k.
For all their talk about "family values," far right conservatives consistently block policies that actually make it easier to achieve that work-life balance.
They view them as anti-business.

As much as I've always admired Serena Williams for what she does, I admire her even more now for who she is.
She's giving millions of people permission to think there are things more important than our modern American notions of work and success.
