Over half a million homeless people in America is not a cause, it’s a symptom. A nation’s economy should to the best of our ability set everyone up to win. Yet ours does not. Those who hold the major levers of power don’t even think that would be a good idea. 1/3

.@StephenSemler is the best.
The progress Biden’s infrastructure bill makes on climate is effectively canceled out—several times over—by the pollution enabled by his outsized military budget. Read my analysis (via @OutriderFdn) here: outrider.org/climate-change/…

Given our spectacular failures in Iraq and Afghanistan, our continuing to feed the same war machine that produced them is a sure sign - as if we needed it - that our military budget has little if anything to do with national security.

Ya think?
Why is no one talking about the real inflationary impact of a $768 billion defense budget? Or corporate subsidies? Or tax cuts for the rich? It's almost as if it's not about inflation at all 🤔

We’re on to you, Howard
My message to Howard Schultz, the billionaire CEO of Starbucks, is this: Stop the war on workers. Stop union busting. Recognize the union. Sit down, and negotiate a decent first contract — NOW.

Good.
NEW: When Amazon workers in California met with their manager to demand a raise, they couldn't believe his response. He suggested they start carpooling & use more Amazon company perks. So 150+ courageous workers led one of the largest mass walkouts in Amazon history.

You say this like it’s a bad thing. When we return moral authority to US foreign policy, recruitment will no longer be a problem. It’s immoral to have American young people looking to the military as their best shot for getting an education.

Starbucks keeps making it harder for its workers to organize. Disgusting. Starbucks workers keep going, displaying solidarity and persistence. Admirable. theguardian.com/us-news/2022…
