The forces were always there but this latest aberrational chapter began in the 1980's with Reagan's presidency and Koch Brothers money. The Republicans started it but no Democratic president has stopped it. Corporatists now have total control of Repubs, too much control of Dems.

Exactly. Those forces have always been there but in the 1980s they came on with a massive onslaught from which we have not yet recovered.

Al Gore’s running mate would not have been making a decision about an Iraq War if Gore had won; the very idea of that war would never have been brought up because Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.
Gore would’ve been a profound environmental president. No one can doubt that.
