The reason Americans don’t trust our institutions is because the institutions have proven themselves untrustworthy.
From Congress to SCOTUS to WH to big business, institutions expected to be at least on some level responsible to the people have been exploitative and even cruel.

You think we have crises now…? - just wait til our current generation of massively traumatized kids grows up. This country has no idea what’s barging down the tracks at us now. Our collect neglect and abuse will come back to haunt us; it already is.
There are 2.5 million homeless children in America today. That should be considered an emergency but it’s not. Children can’t vote and have no economic leverage, therefore they’re considered expendable by the system.
