That’s like saying we have doors and windows too. We are a democratic republic.

I would say that that’s your opinion but I don’t agree with you.

We shouldn’t pretend to ourselves that the implosion of American civilization occurring right now is less dangerous than it is, but neither should we acquiesce to the idea that it’s the final scene in the play. It’s up to us how we write the Third Act.

It's a healing process, a gradual change that has to begin with childhood. We need to massively front end our resources in the direction of support for childhood development. It will take at least a generation to right this ship but we need to get started.

Nobody's bigger on thoughts and prayers than I am. But thoughts and prayers shouldn't be used as a cover for not doing what you were told to do when you spent all that time in prayer. #BanAssaultWeaponsNow

There are members of our SCOTUS who were placed there for the specific purpose of making a corrupt corporatist system even more entrenched. They are not there to protect our democracy but to defend the system against it.

Something soulless and sociopathic has been turned into political force in this country. It will not be dissolved on a transactional level alone. It will be dissolved by a transformational politics that makes the quality of who we are as powerful as the things we do. 1/2

When the lives of our children are at stake, we do need to focus on the symptom as well as the cause.

We have come to a point where the utter bankruptcy of our economic and political system, the spectacular failure of our neoliberal establishment, to keep us from the brink of disaster is clear for all to see. If ever there was a time to re-imagine and recreate America it is now

It’s impossible to measure the trauma now prevalent among an entire generation of our young. The country will pay an unbelievable price for allowing our children to be routinely afraid of being shot at school. Any mental health crisis we have now will be dwarfed by what’s to come

Every time they tell a lie, we need to tell two truths. 1) He is bought and sold by the NRA. 2) Over 20 million assault weapons in America have brought security to no one, and deadly feelings of insecurity to every parent, child and teacher.
The elites in society have the loudest megaphone when it comes to gun control. They live in gated neighborhoods and have private security.

Hope is born of participation in hopeful solutions. I think the only way we can hang onto hope is if we make a concerted effort to provide it in the life of someone else.

We’re not the greatest country. We are the richest country. And while the principles on which we purport to stand are exceptional, clearly we’re not standing on them right now therefore at the moment we are not exceptional.
