90 per cent of the American people are on record for wanting expanded background checks, yet Washington does not now reflect the will of the people. The panic and upset about Uvalde seems to not have penetrated the walls of the Capitol. mariannewilliamson.substack.…

This is not a conversation about banning guns. It is a conversation specifically about banning assault weapons.

Of course not. But it’s a multidimensional issue, an all systems breakdown that requires an all systems response. It’s not one thing any more than it’s every other. If there’s any one thing that does connect them all it’s the multitude of ways we put money before people.

You exhaust easily. I don’t think people think it’s a new revelation at all.

It’s the same issue

What kind of society have we created that so many people are more eager to protect the right to own a military style assault weapon than to do everything possible to protect the life of a child? America’s collective gun fetish IS a mental health issue.

Nobody said gun policy would “fix everything”. I have said plenty about the conditions of kids in school, about poverty and lack of mental health care for them. Don’t try to distract from the gun policy issue pretending you really do care but abide by some some superior wisdom.

Not true! During the assault weapons ban from 1994-2004, mass shootings went down 43%. After it expired, mass shootings tripled. Why are you trying to protect this madness?

This is the absolute truth.
It shouldn't matter what age you are. No one needs an AR-15 or any other assault weapon designed to massacre people. When we had an assault weapons ban from 1994-2004, mass shootings went down 43%. After it expired, mass shootings tripled. End the filibuster. Ban assault weapons.
