I heartily endorse  @westsidedarling for LA City Council District 11. His experience as a civil rights attorney and stand for progressive values is exactly what’s needed in LA erindarling11.com/

It *is* obvious. I don’t think the problem is that not enough people don’t understand. They do. We just feel checkmated by the system because in a way we are. We’re expanding into the realization that an entirely new kind of thinking is going to be necessary to overcome this.

Really a big deal. This is excellent.
Starting next month, Americans can buy hearing aids over the counter – without a prescription or exam. This will lower costs for an estimated 30 million Americans.

Joe @Cirincione is one to listen to. If he says we should take notice, we should take notice. washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

As a Jew, I have to say that’s an offensive and inaccurate analogy.

Actually, I did not. If the producer of an event I was speaking at did so, then so be it.

As long as Big Food and Big Ag dominate our farming and food supply, chemical companies are allowed to poison our green spaces and fossil fuel and defense industries pollute our environment, no healthcare system will ever be able to get ahead of the damage they cause. 2/2

As important as it is to achieve universal healthcare, we also have to ask ourselves why we have so many more chronic illnesses than they do in other advanced countries. 1/2

The establishment elite would have us believe it’s naïve to think humanitarian values should guide public policy. What’s naïve is to assume humanity will last on this planet for another hundred years if we don’t at least try.

The only way we can avoid a violent revolution in this country is if we are willing to wage a peaceful one. “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable.” - President John F. Kennedy

Until we get the money out of politics our democracy will be under continuous assault. We get to influence lawmakers every two years while corporate lobbyists influence them every hour of every working day.

It’s not just the lack of universal healthcare. It’s not just the lack of access to higher education. It’s not just the desecration of the environment. It’s not just the war machine that dominates foreign policy. It’s the whole damn tyrannous system that produces them all.
