Of all the things that could spell doom for the human race, a war machine with no conscience is high on the list. ‘21 was the year when a lot more Americans woke up to the severity of the problem; ‘22 needs to be a year when we seriously begin to solve it. mariannewilliamson.substack.…

The threat posed by our war machine, to our democracy and to the world, is as big as that posed by Big Oil. It's as materially bad and in a way morally worse, committing untold numbers of killings of people in other parts of the world under the guise of national security.

Our government responds to proven criminality on the part of our defense establishment by simply sending it more money. At what point are we the citizens of this country not complicit in their malfeasance? nytimes.com/2021/12/31/us/pe…

You don't have to think them innocent of the charges, or that they shouldn't be held accountable for their crimes, to notice that some women are being severely punished for things that men are routinely allowed to get away with.

2/ Defense industry donations don’t rush in to the coffers of politicians funding peace; they rush in to the coffers of politicians funding war. War profiteering, supposedly a crime, has become an industry. An industry worth trillions of dollars.

1/ I’ve spoken and written extensively on the establishment of a United States Department of Peace. The idea of creating such an agency is given short shrift in legislative circles, however, and for obvious reasons.

Woa.
BREAKING: Exxon will finally face trial this year for torture and 'forced disappearances' by its private army in Indonesia. Exxon sought to block the case with the industry's main tactic - endless delay. It failed. Major step forward for human rights.

People keep saying they wonder what 2022 will bring. But 2022 isn't going to "bring" you anything. The question is what you're going to bring to 2022.

For years we've been trying to solve 21st century problems with 20th century thinking, doing more to perpetuate problems than to solve them. This should be a year when outside-the-box becomes the new normal. The only place to be is outside it.
