Abolishing slavery was a “radical reversal in federal policy”, women’s suffrage was a “radical reversal in federal policy.” We *need* some radical reversal in federal policy!
NEWS: As Dems plot filibuster reform to pass voting rights, Sinema says via spokesman she still supports keeping 60-vote threshold "to protect the country from repeated radical reversals in federal policy" politico.com/news/2021/12/15…

As I’ve been saying…
The Senate just passed a $768 billion defense budget. Much of that cash will get funneled to military contractors. Meanwhile, at least 15 lawmakers who shape defense policy have investments in military contractors. How is this okay?

Shocked and saddened to hear about the death of my friend bell hooks. A rare combination of high searing intellect and pure sweet spiritual nature. She will remain a light on my path and the path of so many. Rest In Peace, dear sister.

Yep.
To review, the Senate shelved the Build Back Better Act and then proceeded to pass a Pentagon budget that costs 4.5x as much. All in the same week

1/The US military today is less a branch of the government and more a branch of the US defense industry. Government serves mainly to fund their donor-monster, protecting it from interference by those who might question its hegemony.

Yes yes yes yes yes.
I was able to get my college degree from a public university that cost $50 a semester. That kind of opportunity simply isn’t available today. We need to make technical schools and two- and four-year public colleges tuition-free and #CancelStudentDebt. insidehighered.com/news/2021…

This is our “new era of diplomacy.”
Just in: The Pentagon’s next mega-contract award for as many as 485 F-35 jets from Lockheed Martin Corp., which the contractor and Defense Department had hinted could come this year, is slipping to March.
