I don’t think most people really grasp how low the federal minimum wage ($7.25) is. If you get charged $20 for a late fee, that’s almost three times the minimum wage. If you get an overdraft fee of $30, that’s over four hours (half a standard workday) of minimum wage labor.

Racism comes from more than bad policy decisions. It’s a malfunction of the heart.

In the richest country in the world, no one needs to live in poverty; no one needs to be homeless; no one needs to be uneducated; no one needs to be underfed; no one needs to be without healthcare, clean water or healthy food. Every one of those results from bad policy decisions.

You've done and continue to do an excellent job, Peter. The problem isn't people not realizing what's happening; the problem is institutional resistance to changing things in time. But the consciousness is rising and it IS going to bust a whole in the wall of all that resistance.

We talk a lot about how to pay for healthcare but far too little about why there's so much more chronic illness in the US than in other countries to begin with. How we have a sickness care rather than a healthcare system, and for reasons like this...theintercept.com/2021/11/01/…

Ah, but it is! In many ways we've reverted to the same aristocratic paradigm we were fighting in 1776, but instead of British landed gentry today it's multi-national corporations.

If you really wanted to strengthen the economy you would raise the minimum wage, pass Medicare4All, and cancel the college loan debt. If you really wanted to defend our democracy, you'd seriously challenge all these voter suppression efforts all over the country. So what gives..?

Doing what’s right, caring for the people, standing big with the people should be the focus when you have power, and the rest will take care of itself.

When the Dec of Ind declared "all men are created equal" & endowed by God w/ "inalienable rights to life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness," that was a radical challenge to the aristocratic paradigm of the day. It was radical then and for the very same reason it's radical today
