There is no further point in expecting the system as it now exists to respond to the imperatives for survival re the next 100 years. We are being asked to accommodate ourselves to slow-moving species suicide; as youth, as parents and as grandparents we have every right to refuse.

No, the segregationists in the South did not have a conscience. No one thought they did. The movement worked because the rest of America did.

People say if we don’t change quickly we could descend into another Dark Ages. I think people will look back on this as having been one. An advanced technological era in which desecration of the earth and a massive arms industry is the bulk of your economy *is* a Dark Age.

Shouldn’t the goals of protestors be winning people over? Not pushing them away? This + the Sinema protests are unlikely to change any hearts and minds and more likely to harden Manchin/Sinema in their positions.
