I don't "miss." I don't *agree* with you! Can't we still date?

To me the most enlightened economies are hybrids of socialism and capitalism, as in certain Scandinavian countries.

The revitalization of the labor movement isn’t going to destroy capitalism; it’s the only thing that can save it.

Oh @JeffBezos, you have no idea how much better you’ll feel if you’ll just embrace this change.

I’m old enough to remember a time when unions were a big deal; I witnessed how they were suppressed from without and corrupted from within. It’s wonderful watching a new generation re-engage, re-imagine and rebuild the labor movement.

Damn right.
"Take the long-simmering grievances of a generation & the political sensibilities of some of its members, add the friendly (for now) job markets of American cities, & the power equation that has governed workplaces for the past 40 years could be altered." prospect.org/labor/generatio…

Guillotines and fire wouldn’t change it; they would permanentize it.

The biggest irony is that the pseudo-sophisticates who have run this country for forty years, in both parties, have thought it was naive of anyone to suggest that raw unmitigated power was not a toy to play with. But they're the naive ones. Cause and Effect is an unalterable law.

The tragedy of America is that we became drunk on our own power, thinking harming people in other countries, neglecting the needs of people in our own country, and trashing every value including our responsibility to the earth itself, could go on forever & not have consequences.

As long as arms sales, oil and every other kind of hegemonic intention dictates American foreign policy - if we continue to throw our own purported values overboard in favor of the worst kind of crass and criminal pursuits - then America will continue on a road to our own demise.

For the rest of the world, the most dangerous things about American foreign-policy in the modern era have been our reckless behavior in Iraq, Afghanistan and even Ukraine. For us, the most dangerous thing is our continuous refusal to look back at our mistakes & learn from them.
