“Robust social programs are best funded in Democratic capitalist societies.” Simply not true. They are best funded in places with hybrid systems like the Scandinavian countries, Iceland etc.

If we have a “viable & functioning” safety net, why are half a million people homeless? If SS & Medicare are enough, why are one in four Americans not able to pay for prescription drugs that have been prescribed to them by their doctor? Why are 17 million children hungry?

A government’s role should be to help people thrive – to support their dreams, not thwart their dreams. Every American should grow up feeling that their country is setting them up to succeed. What we have right now is completely upside down.

The call to #CancelStudentDebt is getting louder and louder. Other advanced nations make higher education either free or very inexpensive. So should we.
“Canceling college loan debt is a way to clean the slate. If anything, we should pay ppl to get an education.” @marwilliamson at DC Rally to #CancelStudentDebt on how when she was growing up, parents could afford to send their kids to college.

Absolutely.
“Climate activists are sometimes depicted as dangerous radicals. But the truly dangerous radicals are the countries that are increasing the production of fossil fuels." Strong words from UN chief António Guterres in light of the IPCC report published today.

Yep. Leap of faith.

There’s no such thing as a faithless person; faith is an aspect of consciousness. We either have faith in the power of a disaster to destroy us or we have faith in the power of love to transform it.

For 40 years the US govt has sold out its people & the people of the world, squandering our moral authority, betraying our values, offering its weight to a toxic strain of capitalism and a bankrupt neoliberal experiment. There’s only one righteous response: We’ve got to fix that.
