Tolerance of systemic violence against women can’t be justified in the name of anti-imperialism, helping other human beings isn’t “a savior complex,” and leaving the most powerless & desperate people to fend for themselves in the hour of their agony isn’t political sophistication

What I'm saying is that the exit strategy has been infuriatingly inept. I'm getting texts from women activists trying right now to help women get out, desperately trying to charter planes etc. This isn't about how we stayed; it's about how we're leaving. This is not slogan time.

That was a lot of years ago, before the Taliban. Women today shouldn't have to suffer because the US was wrong in the 1980's.

Not incredible at all. First three principles of peace creation are: greater economic opportunity for women, more education for children, and reduction of violence against women. Silence about systemic violence against women in the name of anti-imperialism is bogus.

So WW2 was an imperialistic war, I guess. And letting Rwandan genocide happen was just letting people determine there own destiny. Got it.

I could say the same thing about your misogyny, so let's stop with the insults and agree to disagree.

I understand the argument that 20 yrs was enough & it was time to leave Afghanistan. That's the president's call. But the exit should have been done with far more care & w/ far more safety provided for those who had helped us. @POTUS can still make this right and he must #ACTNOW!

“If this is the stance of the Biden administration then its decarbonisation agenda has been well and truly buried. According to no less an authority than the IEA, if we are to reach net zero by 2050, we need to end fossil fuel capacity expansion now.”theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Yes we should! But there were tens of thousands of people who helped us as interpreters etc. and apparently the exit was not planned well enough to make it happen. That’s why they’re scrambling now. Apparently they thought they had more time.
