There would’ve been less despair, less eviction crisis, less trauma for kids, less hunger, less homelessness. All huge issues.

Kids with Covid going into hospitals: midtern polls looking bad for Democrats. None of this had to happen. All they had to do was pay $2000 a month for everyone to stay home until this was over and we would be infinitely better off right now.

It’s also aberrational in terms of American history. From early evangelicals & Abolition to Quakers & women Suffrage to King’s non-violence & the civil rights movement, spirituality has been at the heart of every great social justice movement in the history of the United States.

FDR was rich. Bobby Kennedy was rich. For that matter, Buddha started out rich. Someone’s suffering and ability to relate to the suffering of others is a more reliable indicator of their political values than how much money they have.
