Even Adam Smith said “free market capitalism cannot exist outside an ethical context.” What is amoral leads to immoral consequences. What is called the free market today - soulless and unethical - too often means freedom for far too few at the expense of freedom for far too many.

You don’t have to be anti-capitalist to recognize that global capitalism has been weaponized, used too often as a tool by which to subjugate the poor. As many lives as it has lifted out of poverty it has thrown into despair.

Why would we add $25B to an already $763B defense budget in order to “defend our country” but not pass voting rights legislation to defend our democracy? The greatest threat to our democracy - and it is not a small threat - is voter suppression and voter nullification.

How small can of government of 360 million people be? By definition it’s big. What certain people mean by “small government” is that government’s power should primarily serve the private sector. What Bragman is saying is it should also serve the public sector - the common good.

Turning the Turner/Brown OH-11 race into a litmus test for who can be more “loyal to Biden” is as creepy as the Republicans demanding loyalty to Trump. And it’s not how democracy works. What we love about @ninaturner is that she’s loyal to no one but the people she serves.
