The role of govt should include protecting people from capitalist overreach, yet for the last 40 yrs they’ve actually facilitated it. Our job now is to reverse the trend. #NewProgessiveEra #MoneyOutOfPolitics

For 40 years local, state & federal laws gave tax breaks & subsidies to corporations so they would “create jobs.” With those breaks the people of the US essentially supported their oppressors, companies squeezing every last cent from the coffers of those least able to afford it.

Not inherently. That’s like saying the problem was traffic, when the real problem was a lack of traffic lights and traffic laws.

Important thread. A permanent underclass was created; it was the inevitable consequence of a system that took care of monied forces as the expense of everyone else. Tens of millions of lives have been collateral damage, the victims of what amounts to systemic economic oppression.
A report from the @NLIHC released Wednesday highlights how hard, if not impossible, living in San Francisco has become for those not bringing in three figure salaries. sfgate.com/local/article/san…

“My mother was a maid. She worked at the Waldorf Astoria. There's no reason why she should be displaced. There's no reason why we don't have healthcare. There's no reason why we can't live in the United States and all have an equal chance of living.” @Sheila4Congress

The fact that she was only allowed a court appointed lawyer for over a decade is so outrageous. Spears was abused not only by her father but by the entire conservatorship system. I hope her case coming to light will free others from this barbaric hell.

Thank you @RoKhanna for standing with innocent civilians in Yemen. Ongoing US support for the war and blockade is perpetuating the crisis. @JoeBiden's Yemen Envoy #Lenderking is failing too. #Congress must take immediate action to end US military support because #YemenCantWait.
