If progressives in Congress aren’t standing up for the likes of Julian Assange and @SDonziger then I’m not sure why they’re called progressives. If freedom of the press & the ability of corporations to prosecute private individuals doesn’t get you riled up then why are you there?

They *tell* people the government can’t solve their problems but only as a manipulative trick. Then they proceed to very enthusiastically get government to solve *their* problems, through tax cuts, deregulation etc.

In the 1980s “trickle down economics” was sold to people as good economic theory: the idea that if the stockholder & CEO class had more & more money then they’d create more jobs & it would lift all boats. It’s done the opposite, leaving masses of people without even a life vest.

I think it’s the opposite! I think you’re enabling Democrats who are living in denial, who don’t realize that unless they deliver enough to the average American - higher minimum wage, healthcare, removing college loan debt, etc. - then many voters won’t show up to vote for them.

It’s the exact opposite of what you’re suggesting.

Those who feel they have the most to gain from an unjust system are chomping at the bit to vote; those who have the most to lose from it are so exhausted & have been betrayed so many times that getting them to vote in ‘22 will be a huge challenge. Dangerous and toxic combination.

Whether it’s the military covering up war crimes or fossil fuel companies covering up environmental crimes, both are now viciously coming after those who are trying to hold them accountable. It’s up to us to make a lot of noise on behalf of the truth-tellers. #FreeStevenDonziger
NYT called out again for silence on @Chevron's violations of human rights in Ecuador and my wrongful 700-day house arrest. Still ignoring major conflict of interest involving Chevron lawyer Boutrous. Excellent analysis by @_barattata at @FAIRmediawatch. fair.org/home/action-alert-n…
