For everyone. Within that, there is always healthy debate among different political voices. But when the bottom line is doing the right thing rather than a bottom line of rich donors just getting richer, then everything changes.

We need a powerful political constituency of those who simply want to do the right thing.

Morally culpable is different than financially accountable. Descended from Jewish Russian immigrants who came here to escape pogroms, I’m not morally culpable for slavery. But as a citizen of the US I’m responsible for America doing the right thing now - so I support reparations.

The long harsh winter of Koch brother types successfully demonizing unions seems to be coming to an end.

Americans wanting to look at our history, atone for past mistakes and make things right in the present is not a bad thing; it’s a good and healthy thing. Revisionists like Hawley represent the interests of those who would perpetuate our biggest mistakes.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO): “I’m worried that President Biden is nominating for federal office individuals ... who believe that this is a country founded in racism ...”

This. A million times this.
.@Indiawaltonbflo became a mother at 14 years old. She earned her GED while pregnant w/ twins. She graduated, became a registered nurse, & then a representative in her union, 1199SEIU. Then directed a Community Land Trust. Tonight it seems Buffalo may be making her Mayor. 💙

They were not all slave owners; some were passionately opposed to slavery. As ironic as it is in certain ways, the documents they left us are still the basis for moving forward in the areas of social justice. The Bill of Rights etc. would be considered very progressive today.

It’s discussing the unnecessary suffering of tens of millions of people and saying very politely, “Yes, upon reflection, perhaps we could be doing a bit better.”

“There’s a growing realization really across the political spectrum that we need to achieve more inclusive prosperity,” said Fed Chair Powell, citing lagging economic mobility in the US. “These things hold us back as an economy and as a country.” Ya think? What took them 40 yrs??
