“The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere    The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst    Are full of passionate intensity. Surely some revelation is at hand” - from “The Second Coming” by William Butler Yeats

That doesn’t really make sense, because it suggests that someone who did support them got the African-American vote.

Thank you for doing the right thing. Many of us would hope to see the word “permanently” at the end of the sentence as well, of course, just to know it’s not temporary damage control.

What is going on in this country? Freedom means nothing if it’s not the freedom to discuss ideas.
Melissa Smith's community college course "Race and Ethnicity" is canceled for the summer while her school evaluates it in light of a new state law that bans teaching critical race theory wapo.st/3vu7YF8

I think you’re thinking of Veteran’s Day, but the point is still well taken.

This is one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen. It is an affront to the memory of millions of people for home a yellow star was a precursor to the journey to the gas chambers. Anyone who participates in this is dishonoring something that should never be dishonored.

Oh so you think those natural causes were like “a coincidence?” In that case, why are his mother and his girlfriend working so hard to get a commission?

Some people ask how they might best push our leaders in a better direction. My advice is a psychological as well as behavioral change: don’t just think in terms of pushing them; think in terms of REPLACING them. Run! Help others run! Be active in local & state & federal campaigns

And in this idea you have a “long and bloody war,” you think “the people” are gonna win huh? That nightmare scenario is not the only alternative. The alternative is to become active electorally in ways most people have never been active before.

Cynicism has replaced complacency as the biggest threat to our democracy. There are those with pseudo-sophisticated excuses for not helping versus those who are active day in and day out trying to save it. Support the good ones! Candidatesummit.com

2/ When it comes to politics the traditional politician is like a car mechanic. We have a lot of excellent car mechanics but that’s not our problem; the problem is where the car is being driven. Given where we are now it’s astonishing how people continue to defend the status quo.

1/ We need to stop revising history here; it was Johnson who turned it into a full-scale war. And I don’t think experience *doesn’t* matter; my point is that it’s not a guarantee of wisdom & and there are many kinds of experience required for good leadership.

There are socialist democracies in the world. Most European countries are democracies with elements of socialism as well as capitalism.
