I remember when “It’s a matter of life and death” used to mean something.
The US government, Bill Gates, and most of the drug industry: We don't need to share vaccine intellectual property with the developing world because we've set up COVAX via partnerships in India. COVAX:

Right she is.
The revolutionary mRNA tech that pharma is working so hard to protect their monopoly on was developed through publicly funded research. Public funds the research, pharma privatizes the profits. And poor countries are priced out completely. scientificamerican.com/artic…

The reason this is so interesting is because, as in every other area as well, the solutions we need do exist. We need a shift in consciousness - including political consciousness - that will put us fast enough on track to applying them. washingtonpost.com/climate-s…

Rep. @RashidaTlaib slams Chevron's "unchecked corporate power": "Indigenous communities ... held Chevron accountable for environmental devastation with nearly $10b in damages, and ever since Chevron has sought to use its money and power to illegitimately nullify this result."

I think the jury is still on on the issue of scale. DOJ and FBI investigations are not a small thing. Now we need Congress and the White House to act. But there’s movement.

I don’t see it as cynically as you do. What you’re saying is no different then a right wing view of the “deep state.” There are some good people who are work in government too, you know. And many of them do see the situation very clearly.

These are the kinds of things we need to see. From the Department of Justice to the FBI, we're seeing more acknowledgment of the problem than we've seen in years. It's not enough but it's the beginning. nitter.vloup.ch/i/events/1387206…

I know Stephanie. I love Stephanie. I've read Stephanie. I get your point. But she would never say anything as condescending as "You're not helping here."

There are quite a few socialist countries where it could be argued that the average citizen is afforded a lot more dignity than they are here.

Nobody is saying we should make it harder for the little guy; we should make it much easier for the little guy. It’s the ultra wealthy who should be taxed more. And safety/health/environmental regulations are needed to serve all of us. Corruption of food & water etc are not okay.

That’s the ideal of course but it’s a cruel parody of what actually happens. A 40 yr massive transfer of wealth into the hands of the wealthiest has not created more jobs, it has created more poverty. It hasn’t lifted all boats; it has left millions without even a life vest.

“Influence” the outcome, yes. But they do not always “determine” the outcome. I’ve known many people who “did everything right” and the cards were still stacked against them.

Yeah we have to change that.
