We could’ve had all those things and retained respect for nature. The early Christian dispensation that proclaimed man was superior to nature still called for proper stewardship. Environmental degradation for the sake of short term corporate profits is not proper stewardship.
2/ The environmental crisis and the political/economic corruption that perpetuate it are all fueled by humanity’s lack of reverence and devotion to anyone and anything but ourselves. An overly materialized worldview counterintuitively leads to violence toward the material world.
1/ In a very real way, the shift from a pagan earth-based spirituality to the patriarchal Christian notion of man’s right to dominate nature was a causal factor contributing to what would one day become our environmental crisis.
