Government. Government sets tax policy, makes banking regulations, determines regulatory measures or lack of them, prosecuted monopolies or doesn’t. Etc. That is precisely what presidents and Congress do.

That chart is misleading. The fact that people are attending church less doesn’t mean they’re necessarily less interested in spirituality. The largest growing denomination is called the “unchurched.”

And yet with comments like that you perpetuate the smear. Thank you for the apology.

Excuse me, what’s wrong with my “optics?” And if I was any other ethnic group would you dare say that?

This thread.
There are a lot of good things in HR1, but I would be remiss if I didn't say anything about the poison pills. Every voter deserves to cast a ballot AND to have a full range of options on that ballot so that they can truly be represented, not just vote against "the other guy."

It has produced great benefits at times, that’s true. But disconnected from the controlling reins of ethical concern & government regulation, it has become master rather than servant to humanity’s highest good.

The security guards who didn’t help her are culpable as well.

During the 1970s the average American worker could afford a house and a car, had good benefits, could take a yearly vacation and send their kids to college. One parent could even afford to stay home. It was an era of capitalism with a conscience. That is what I would want.

Just to be clear I’m not anti-capitalist. Obsessive deregulation & privatization, unfair corporate taxes & corrupt banking practices, monopolies, agency capture & union busting have disconnected American capitalism from its ethical core. To me that’s the problem.

I absolutely did not. Never. Ever. You will not find that in any book I wrote nor will you find it in any speech I ever gave nor will you hear it reported by anyone who was actually there. medium.com/@davidkessler_884…

There is something so vile about this. Obviously, the assault itself. But the security guard just looked on and did nothing? The other one just closed the door and didn’t even go help her? Several people should be held responsible here.
NYPD says 65-year-old Asian American woman was walking to church this morning when suspect assaulted her and said “f*** you, you don’t belong here.” Happened in front of 360 W. 43rd St. 11:40am. Sources say building security guard not only failed to render her aid... 1/2

The way those security guards just stood there, doing nothing, not helping her...
