People who are forced to work at jobs they hate, desperate to keep that job even though it robs them of life-force more than it pays them in money, who nevertheless need it because it is the only way to survive, are in a very real way not free.
Yes we believe the “peeing in bottles thing,” many realize the abuse of power that Amazon represents, I’m glad both Bernie & the Attorney General of NY are onto you, and I hope Biden’s new anti-trust appointee is successful at removing you from your monopolistic perch.
“The Los Angeles Police Department was asked to support community safety efforts.” No it wasn’t. It was asked to support community destruction efforts of a community you just don’t like.
I think we need to use it to lift each other up. These are serious times and as bad as certain things are, there's a whole lot more to lose if we don't rise up and interrupt the pattern.
This story is heartbreaking and infuriating. "...Cardenas doesn't understand why Verizon, which ended the year with $31 Billion in revenue and dazzling 4-th quarter cash flow, couldn't afford to keep her on the payroll." NEITHER DO I. wired.com/story/after-remote…
Things got the way they are because of bad public policy and they can only be fixed by good public policy. That means different people in power. Saying it’s “useless” is just surrendering the levers of power to those who do real harm with it.
Right. Like they're smarter than anyone running. That's a very arrogant perception - and a sure way to make sure the people we least agree with hold all the power.
Okay. You're cynical. And how is that helping? Believe me, I understand the frustration. I was in the belly of that beast. But as my dad would say, "Don't let the bastards get you down." We need to grieve, cry, rage...and then at a certain get back up again!
Nothing wonky about meeting and supporting really cool people who are running against a corporate machine based on all the issues we care about. They can't help us if we don't help them.
I get that, but it's our democracy we're talking about here. We have ancestors who have literally died for our right to at least stay in the struggle. The system is rigged, it's f--ked up, but it's not unchangeable. Giving up amounts to conspiring with it.
