7/ In that case, the corporate duopoly will have taken the America government hostage in a way that will be difficult to change for at least another generation, if ever. I don’t know what the answer is but I know the question should be alive in our hearts and minds.

6/ How will this play out over the next 4 years? If they continue to suppress progressives in congressional as well as prez primaries, & another establishment darling is raised up by the political-media industrial complex in 4 yrs, there will be no more empowered Left in America.

5/ Having been there myself, I can tell you the Democratic presidential primary is a multibillion dollar piece of performance art. It is a piece of kabuki theatre, written and directed by those who don’t appear on the stage while the play is going on.

4/ They never got over McGovern. To them that was the problem, and they were never going to let it happen again. Serving the “will of the people” is like a quaint saying to them; it means very little in operational terms.

4/ Clinton, Obama and the DNC were not going to let Bernie - or any other progressive - have any power that was inconvenient to their purposes.

3/ The new book “Lucky” displays how the Democratic establishment did more to choose the candidate than to pave the way for real democracy in its primary season.

2/ According to @mtaibbi the establishment chooses every four years who they will promote four years hence; clearly Kamala, Pete and Amy are the Democratic chosen ones.

1/ There was a time when the Left didn’t have to fight for power so much within the Democratic Party; it wasn’t treated like a political stepchild the way it is now.

Calling someone who doesn’t align with the corporate duopoly a “vanity candidate” is part of the problem though. Only someone whose career has been entrenched in a system that drove us into the ditch should be considered qualified to lead us out of it??

Good economy is like a club in America; if you’re in it there’s no better place to be. Problem is not enough people can get into it - millions even locked out before they’re 10 yrs old. The problem isn’t a lack of talent, intelligence or effort; the problem is bad public policy.

I don’t think 2020 proved that at all.

This story is amazing.
Steinbeck's mother Olive Hamilton believed she had a gift exchange going with some spooky pals in Big Sur's mountains, which is a pretty rad way to live your life. sfgate.com/local/article/dar…

I think that applies more to you towards me than it applies to me towards Biden.
