I can’t let this one go so I’m posting it again. This is corruption on such a level. First of all it shouldn’t be legal, but the fact that these lawmakers would even want to own those stocks says everything. readsludge.com/2021/08/23/la…

No one would be paying her way. Congresspeople would be invited guests to an event like that.

Given that thousands of people work there, yes! And rich people are exactly who should be supporting it.

I’ll bet you anything some young designer designed that dress for her and is now going to have his or her career boosted because of it. That’s a good thing, not a bad thing!

Many young people who live in her district have their dreams expanded because of that museum & probably work there. I’m sure Covid has hit it very hard. Rich people showing up to support it is exactly what they should be doing, And legislators should be supporting the arts more!

I got that part, but I also get how many thousands of people work for the Met and how the people who attend that gala are exactly the people who should be coughing up the money to keep the museum open. This country under-supports the arts as it is.

She is a New York Congresswoman and the Metropolitan Museum is one of the great artistic institutions in this country. Many thousands of people have jobs working both at the Met as well as in the fashion industry. She belongs there and I think she used it in the right way.

I cannot fathom this.
Elon Musk got $150,800,000,000 richer during the pandemic. Jeff Bezos got $75,000,000,000 richer during the pandemic. Mark Zuckerberg got $74,200,000,000 richer during the pandemic. Meanwhile, over 38 million Americans faced hunger in 2020.

In order to change what happens in the future, we need to be clear about what happened in the past. Listen to my conversation with @Cirincione for a clearer understanding of the legacy of the Afghan war. mariannewilliamson.substack.…
