Twitter matters though. Don’t kid yourself, their Comms directors are reading our Twitter feeds. It’s the equivalent of a constituent call and it does register. “Your life begins to end on the day you stop talking anout things that matter.” - MLK Jr.

Don’t just discuss what’s “possible”; discuss what needs to be said & done. We should repeal the ‘17 $2T tax cut that gave $.83 of every $ to the richest corporations & people (put back in middle class tax cuts). Until we change unfair tax laws, nothing will fundamentally change.

Beginnings matter. When patterns are set at the beginning, it’s harder to make changes later. Medicare4All; UBI in pandemic & beyond; cancel college debt; challenge MIC; to Green New Deal - be willing to come in strong and loud at the beginning or they’ll never gain a foothold.

We the People need to determine what conversations dominate politics. Right now, a system that fosters our denial pre-prescribes the conversation and even pre-prescribes who gets to be part of the conversation. Don’t let them. #BeDivinelyInconvenient

I agree with you that until we pay that debt, America will not heal no matter what else we do.

Oh they’re allowed. They choose not to, in part because they know the media will nullify their voice if they do. But I think it’s better to be nullified and have the people figure out what happened, than to be seduced by the con and become a tool of the system.

We need to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine & repeal the Telecommunications Act. There will be a new prez in a week and we shouldn’t just wait to see what he will do; we should think about what it is we want. The American people have gotten into the habit of asking for too little.

The Telecommunications Act of 1996 allowed a small group corporations to become the monopolistic owners of mainstream media. There are rules by which they abide & one of them is to never criticize the military industrial complex. Most presidential candidates don’t even go near it

Thanks. Individuals are like tuning forks that help to coalesce the energy that movements can emerge from.

The militarism that has become such a key factor in American foreign policy is a causal factor in the militaristic vibe & behavior of our domestic police. There will no fundamental correction of our police brutality issue if we refuse to address this link.

It’s not a problem that he’s making money! The money he’s making is not the issue; the money Raytheon, Boeing, and Northrop Grumman make is the issue. It’s a problem that a Raytheon board member will head the Pentagon, as has been the case with the last few of them.
2
I don’t begrudge his personal compensation either. It’s standard. But someone that tied into the defense industry should not be heading the Pentagon. Nor should a general.

It’s mid pandemic too. So are we not supposed to address any other problem as long as those things are going on? And do you really think they’re not all related in some way?

For America to repair itself it’s going to take more than looking at single issues. It’s going to take a willingness to look deeply into the mirror at all the ways, not just some of the ways, we function in direct and indirect contrast to the values on which we purport to stand.

That’s not the crisis at all. That amount of money is standard enough; it’s not about his money personally. The crisis is how it has now become the norm for people who are executives or board members at defense contractors to then head the Pentagon. Nor should it be a general.
