We need to take what’s happening now as seriously as any generation of Americans has taken any challenge that ever confronted us. We cannot ride this out or wait it out and any temptation to minimize the threat should be vigorously resisted. We let it fester for too long already.

The U.S. is going through a tremendous crisis and we shouldn't minimize that. But we should have absolute conviction that ultimately we'll be a better country for everything we've been through. It isn't up to fate; it's up to us.

I sort of can't believe you said that, but let me spell it out more clearly: He should prosecute racist CRIMES and white-supremacist CRIMES.

Of course. Not a hidden truth.

No, I do not denounce Black Lives Matter! It is not a "Black supremacist group;" it is a Black equality and justice group. I have great admiration for those who started it and for the movement they initiated. It was long overdue.

Yeah I did but it's been gratifying to see some people recognize that. You can't imagine how character-building it is to have lies printed about you on pretty much every media platform every hour every day. They say you come out bitter or better. I'm trying for better if possible

I'm not even saying I'm incapable of that thought. I'm just saying I didn't tweet it.

We need Merrick Garland to be super tough on two issues when he becomes Attorney General: 1) systemic racism & 2) Trump era white supremacist crimes. If he is anything less than totally aggressive on prosecuting those things, the American people need to protest very, very loudly.

We won't get through this period in history with a "We'll wait and see what happens" attitude. It's imperative that we see a cult-like neo-fascist phenomenon in our midst as absolutely unacceptable, and see ourselves as a generation which refuses to tolerate its presence.

Churchill said you could always count on Americans to do the right thing..."after they have exhausted every other option." We're known for being slow to wake up to things but once we do, we slam it like nobody's business. I think we just woke up, and I think we're gonna slam it.

We must absolutely not "just move on."
News outlets are publishing more videos, photos and testimonials from the pro-Trump riot on Capitol Hill. And it's becoming clear that as heinous as the attack looked in real time, on live TV and in our social feeds, it was even worse than we knew then. cnn.it/3scNCPk
