It’s not just M4A, it’s an entire corporatist direction. It’s obeisance to the military industrial complex. And it’s a realization that if the American people don’t quickly see Dems coming on strong with a real alternative to Trumpism, then they’ll go back to it in ‘22 & 24.

You do realize why a lot of us are feeling a bit cynical today, right Congressman?

Yet Ryan helped pave the way for all this.

Yes! In 1970 workers had good union jobs, good benefits in addition to a substantial paycheck, home and car ownership plus annual vacations. They could send their kids to college and even own a small summer home. They were the middle class in America. (source: Thom Hartmann)

2/ Example: Walmart corporation made $16.4B in profits in 2011 yet pays its employees minimum wage. The family has $100B, more than bottom 40% of all Americans. Unjust economic policies made this possible, and no one no one no one should be okay with it. #TaxTheRich

1/ The reason extreme income inequality is so viscerally repulsive to me is because I’m old enough to remember the time - before 1980 - when it wasn’t this way. It all started with the Reagan tax cuts and Reaganomics in 1980.

I think they are absolutely disagreements, just like you and I are disagreeing right now. I don’t feel attacked by you. I feel we disagree with one another and in a democracy that’s OK!

I don’t think this means “they got him.” I’m not taking any new congressman’s one comment as a sign of who they will or will not be in office. It’s why all of us need to keep expressing our opinions, so they’re hearing voices other than just those on Capitol Hill.

The only thing I can think of more powerful than Greta Thunberg as a child is Greta Thunberg unleashed into full on womanhood. Happy birthday, Greta! The world is already a better place because of you

A disagreement is not an attack; a disagreement is a disagreement. I know quite a bit about attacks and this was not one.

Let’s hope. It’s not a done deal yet.

Yet they seem never to take an opportunity to look in the mirror. Triumph in life doesn’t come from just blaming our adversaries; it comes from figuring out how best to outsmart them.

2/ New member progressive @MondaireJones on his plan to back Pelosi: “The question is: “Are you going to empower the Republican leader, Kevin McCarthy, to which the answer is no.” Wow, they get to them fast don’t they? A line straight from a PR ad campaign if there ever was one.

1/ The new congressional session begins today. Re-electing Pelosi will say to the country that it’s pretty much going to be business as usual, which to me is very sad. What a lost opportunity to burst out of the gate post-Trump with something new.
