I’m not saying that YOU do. But I don’t understand why you’re saying this “isn’t the best way forward.” Don’t we just have to tell the truth as we see it at some point? I don’t see where coddling one’s Congressional leadership is somehow a “better strategy.” This is a democracy!
But that’s my point!! Progressives like Ro Khanna and Tim Ryan were asking for the $2000 a month from the beginning, but those proposals were squashed by leadership. And what the Speaker says is what Americans hear.
Sometimes what you call “nuance” is used to obfuscate the bigger picture. And that does not help us; it just maintains the status quo. Until there is a progressive Spesker this will not change.
And I’m reminded of a codependent relationship where someone doesn’t show up for us and we stay in denial or keep making excuses for them! It doesn’t serve us and it doesn’t serve them.
This entire time the Dem leadership could’ve been saying to the American people “$2000 a month $2000 a month $2000 a month.” There is a bully pulpit there and no, it was not used for that purpose. I don’t understand the codependent relationship so many Dems have with the Speaker.
No they did not. The HEROES Act included a proposal for a second round of direct payments to Americans – $1,200 for an individual, $2,400 for joint filers, and $1,200 for up to three dependents.
“The HEROES Act included a proposal for a second round of direct payments to Americans – $1,200 for an individual, $2,400 for joint filers, and $1,200 for up to three dependents. This one-time infusion of cash would provide relief to many Americans.”
Now even Perdue and Loeffler are supporting the $2000 stimulus because they see it’s what voters want. If the Democratic Party had stood loud and proud for it starting in March, Democrats would easily be controlling both House and Senate today.
No! We have to lift each other up when somebody says that. That’s how they want us to feel. We have to love this country and love our ancestors and love our descendants so much that we commit to changing it.
Welcome to presidential Inaugurations, funded by Boeing, Bank of America, etc - all of whom “look forward to engaging with the administration on a variety of issues.” Oh I bet they do... nytimes.com/2020/12/16/us/po…
