That is so putting it mildly. It’s like saying crowds in front of the Bastille have been waiting patiently long enough.

In some countries the punishment is far, far worse. I don’t think we should forget that.

Being inconvenient to a patriarchal system isn’t something to be ashamed of; it should be worn as a badge of honor. Women in countries where our punishment is lies told about us & public shaming should speak up loudly for women in countries where their punishment is far far worse

Right now, as we speak, a woman in Saudi Arabia is sentenced to prison for protesting in support of a woman’s right to drive and a Hong Kong woman is being tortured in China for “being quarrelsome” because she wrote dispatches about Wuhan. #DoNotBeSilent #GlobalSisterhood

Every American woman should make a lot of noise about this. The US should NOT remain silent. Incoming Sec of State Blinken should hear these words wherever he goes: “Yemen! Armenia! Loujain!” #GlobalSisterhood #FreeLoujain
Loujain al-Hathloul, who fought Saudi Arabia's ban on women driving and became one of the kingdom’s most prominent prisoners, has been sentenced to nearly 6 years in prison. nyti.ms/2KFCCt2

Part of the problem not only for citizens but even for other lawmakers, is the way party leaders (& Mnuchin) negotiated in secret. The entire process should have been transparent and everyone involved should have had to answer to the public for exactly what they were standing for
