It's important we all familiarize ourselves with these picks, both those we agree with and those we don't. Our entire conception of citizenship needs to change now, from "someone else is handling it" to "all of us participate with our opinions."
This is an *excellent* pick by Joe Biden. Tai is well-respected and deeply knowledgeable. She's much more moderate than I am, but she knows how to do the job and will do it well. (USTR is one of six key positions I'm following.)

Many people do, but still...
When I was young issues of war & peace were on everybody’s minds & everybody’s lips. Why? Because there was a draft; people closest to you were next in line. I’m not suggesting we reinstate the draft but I can’t help but notice how numb people have become to such a critical issue

I look forward to it. I did an interview with Vincent the other day myself. I will post it.

“Acceptable level of risk” absolutely should be the guiding principle, but it’s not. I suggest you read “the fifth risk” by michael Lewis.

What “moment are we in?” Are we at war, and if we are, why and where? Do people even know? Are you OK with just accepting that constant and chronic militarization of foreign policy is just the way America does things now...? If so, we are in real big trouble.

Absolutely not! I have spoken well of picks Yellen, Blinken, Mayorkas, Becerra. This is nothing personal. This is not about whether people are “nice.” Reagan was “nice.” Bush was “nice.” These choices matter!

We have a president, not a king. We don’t elect someone and then never weigh in on what they do. That’s how we got here.

Thrilled she’s there.
I’m so honored that my colleagues have elected me Chair of the Progressive Caucus. We have massive crises knocking at our nation’s door and our work has never been more important. It’s time for Congress to act boldly and restore power to where it belongs: with the people.

Austin got on TV today to do damage control, insists he admires the wisdom of civilian control. I don't doubt his sincerity. It's just that he can't KNOW that wisdom because it hasn't been his experience. Congress just passes laws now & then says "Oh, we're gonna ignore that one"

Seriously disagree with @RoKhanna on this one. This isn't about race; it's about dominance of the military-industrial complex becoming so normalized that they pass a law, then waiver it so many times it becomes meaningless, & the kids don't even remember when it wasn't like this.

When it comes to undue corporate influence on our politics, it's not usually about corrupt individuals. It's about a particular filter & set of experiences that naturally make a person lean one way in their perspective - a perspective that usually leaves out those who suffer most

We've so normalized the militarization of American foreign policy that we reflexively look to the military before diplomacy to resolve international conflicts. We've sidelined true peacemakers for a reason: huge multi billion dollar corporate profits. SAY NO. #PeaceBeforeProfits

This is not a matter of his being a corrupt individual; I don’t think he is at all! It’s a matter of the filter he sees things through, the experience he has had and the perspective it gives him. The founders enshrined civilian leadership of our military for a reason.

He has to work with his people, so I understand he has to like them. But there are a lot of people he could like.

I get it’s important that Biden to be comfortable but it’s important that we be comfortable too. Generals and board members of defense contracting companies should not be running the Pentagon. Period. Now, not later, is the time to say NO.
