When you’re checking out a politician, don’t just consider what they talk about. Think about the things they choose not to talk about at all. The main complicity lies in silence about some things that actually matter most.

The practical meaning of the line “the meek shall inherit the earth” is that wisdom that’s humble before nature points the way to the only survivable option for the world, while arrogant dominance and brute force would just destroy us all.

There’s a line in the Bible that “what man intends for evil God intends for good.” The silver lining of such unbelievably sick things happening in the last few years is that it’s started to create more of an appetite for things that are healthy.
