“Manufacturing consent” is too polite a description for the malfeasance of a media establishment that not only helps create a problem but then maintains the order by which it’s more difficult to solve it.

The only force more powerful than hate is love. The hatred Trump harnessed for political purposes will still exist even when he leaves the WH. The way to overwhelm it is to love people enough that you fundamentally lessen the pain of the economic desperation they are feeling now.

How about: people like having the opportunity to thrive and to make something of their lives, and believe that in the richest country on earth it is only reasonable that they should be able to do that.

Obviously. But the point is that people in pain become enraged. A good leader ameliorates the pain; a bad leader exploits the rage for his own purposes.

That’s why they need to hear from us. A lot of people talking loud on Twitter is a modern form of lobbying.

How magnificent is this.
One of the most gorgeous photographs of Yosemite Valley I've ever seen, by Kelly Isaacs White. An instant classic.

A majority of Americans support #Medicare4All (69%)and #CancelStudentDebt (56%). Things demonized as “far left” in America are actually mainstream center politics in most advanced democracies. Even here, more and more they’re simply the will of the people. forbes.com/advisor/student-l…

Republicans gained power because they responded to people’s rage. Democrats lost power because they stopped responding to people’s pain. Biden will only have a short time to ease people’s pain enough to keep them from going back to the ones who understand their rage.

I appreciate Biden’s even tone during the campaign and the mature, non-chaotic transition so far. But he needs to come out of the gate January 20 with bold and blazing plans to rescue the tens of millions of Americans today who are seething with legitimate rage.

Yes yes yes yes yes.
As @sarahmillerdc explains, lawmakers’ failure to enforce antitrust laws has allowed the “largest agribusinesses to consolidate extraordinary amounts of economic and political power over farmers, workers, communities, politicians, and regulators.” motherjones.com/food/2020/11…
