This thread, from one of the greatest voices of our time...
Medicare For All & a $15/hr federal minimum wage are not socialism. They’re social justice. They promote the general welfare for all people, and any Black or white person who says they’re socialism is wrong.

Not sure about that. Bubonic plague, the Inquisition, I could go on. But this is weird... and tragic in many ways.

I don’t think so at all. It completely dishonors our ancestors to undervalue those who sacrificed & struggled so things could be made better. Have we ever been perfect? No of course not - but people have died to make progress. They didn’t just complain on Twitter.

We’re the only advanced country where so much of our educational funding is based on property taxes. We’re counting on you, @DrBiden! EVERY CHILD has infinite potential, and EVERY SCHOOL should be a palace of learning, culture and the arts.
Educators: this is our moment. We’re going to make sure that every child, every school, and every educator has what they need to thrive regardless of where they live or where they come from.

No, it just means corporations would run even more things with only their shirt-term financial gain, without any countervailing advocacy by govt for the well-being of citizens.

One that under-regulates corporations is the greatest danger at this point.

The way our government is responding to the pandemic is a natural extension of the way things have been run for decades. We need a fundamental course correction to restore government “of the people, by the people and for the people.”

From a pathetic negligent response to Covid; to heartless withhold of financial assistance to assuage the pressures and pain of rent and hunger; we will look back on our government’s response to this pandemic as worse than “Let them eat cake.” It’s more like “Let them drop dead.”
Thousands of cars lined up to collect food in Dallas, Texas, over the weekend, stretching as far as the eye can see.

It’s almost unbelievable that that’s what you would take from what I said. Not only is it completely not what I said, but what concerns is what you just said.

Yep.
The virus is spreading as rapidly as ever. We need COVID relief and we need it now. $2000/month per person. Student loan forgiveness. Home internet for all. Workplace protections for essential workers. And funding to keep cities and towns from driving off a financial cliff.

I do respect principled conservatives like the ones you describe. Eisenhower said the American mind at its best is both liberal and conservative. I believe that.

Do you know where your tax money goes? You ask why pay off a college debt and the answer is because it will stimulate the economy. Right now that same money goes to subsidizing big corporations in a way that does nothing to stimulate the economy at this point! It’s the same money

If Republicans say something someone doesn’t like, they tend to say it again louder. If Democrats say something and someone doesn’t like it, they tend to back off. That’s what progressives refuse to do and it’s starting to work. #Medicare4All #cancelcollegeloandebt #GreenNewDeal
