Biden’s win gives Democrats a chance to regroup. But that’s what Trumpsters are doing also and they have every intention of taking power back in ‘22 & ‘24. The only way to block that is by using this moment to create fundamental and not just incremental change. (Kasich is wrong.)

I don’t understand what you’re saying. Of course we’re all coming together. But the party elites have a different view of politics than they have in the South. It is not “infighting” or “ego” to say that, and it’s what cost us a chance at beating McConnell.

Ha! You’re right. I should have said New York and California. That’s usually what people mean when they say it in a political context.

The Democratic Senate candidates in Georgia do not need coastal Democrats who think they know better, to presume to tell Georgians how to win an election in Georgia. The South & SW are rising ... and they’re doing it their way.

There’s a countervailing argument as well. Beginnings are important & if you don’t make changes at the beginning it’s much harder to do later. FDR came in & did things fast. If Biden sets up a corporatist cabinet from the beginning then nothing but incremental changes will happen

Tomorrow morning Newsweek will post my article “Battle for the Soul of the Democratic Party.” Tonight I just want to breathe easy for the first time in four years, forgive myself and everyone else, and allow myself to fully take in what it means that that chapter is over.

Let’s take one night to let go the vitriol, forgive each other, assume the best about each other’s intentions. The anger & demonization has poisoned us over the last four years. There will be a lot to argue about - and I definitely plan to be part of the argument. But not tonight

The American people have been trained to expect too little; we should reclaim our societal imagination. THIS is the kind of thing we should be thinking. Big Oil gets to think big. MIC gets to think big. Big Pharma gets to think big. We the American people should get to think big.
As president, Biden can issue an executive order to unilaterally cancel all student loan debt and instantly help 45 million people. He should do that.
