No Democrat would have nominated or voted for her. And Clinton gave us RBG. Are we no longer capable of any nuanced conversation whatsoever?

I’m less angry about Amy Barrett’s placement on the SCOTUS than I am deeply sad. Her presence on the Court will obstruct freedoms that many of our ancestors have fought and died for. I hope her radical views will be the dissenting and not the majority opinion in case after case.

We need to identify the problems, but we need to identify *with* the problem solvers.

Lesley Stahl was not being corrupt in that interview. She was just asking tough questions he didn’t want to answer. She was reading his own words back to him and he was denying that he said them. So he walked out...

Never forget...
Never forget how outrageous this is: Senate GOP blocked Merrick Garland 237 DAYS before election & said American people should choose next justice Now they’re confirming Amy Coney Barrett 8 DAYS before Nov 3 when 60 MILLION already voted

We can’t just pour pink paint over rough things & pretend they don’t exist. We can’t just bring light to the darkness; we have to bring the darkness to light. America’s going through what an individual goes through having to face our shadows. It’s hard but it’s what will free us.

Complacency and denial are as dangerous as authoritarianism and fascism. The former pave the way for the latter.

So you think because a corrupt press was unfair to me personally that I should give up on the notion of the importance of the Free Press? That would be ridiculously irresponsible.

No I haven’t at all. But as corrupt as it is at times, we can’t give up on the realization that a free society can’t exist without a free press.

Many women know well what it feels like to be told “Oh it’s not that bad. You’re being hysterical” as a way to shut her down when she’s describing a truth. Abusers - and abusive systems - know that’s a tough one for women to hear. But we shouldn’t shut up; we should say it again.

Are we not acting like frogs in boiling water? First they demonized the press & said the news is all fake. Then they said the press is the enemy of the people. Now they just walk out on interviews. Only the most naïve among us don’t realize they have it in them to shut it down.

Yes indeed. But that’s not what Trump is trying to do

This is what happens when people are uneducated about the pillars of our democracy.

There were millions hungry even before the pandemic.Homelessness even before the pandemic. Economic injustice, people trapped in near economic serfdom even before the pandemic. Life is putting a magnifying glass before things we needed to look at but were too anesthetized to feel

I love America. I don’t say this to attack us but because we need to be honest with ourselves or we’ll never heal: the pandemic aside, we’re not going through anything we haven’t inflicted on other countries.
