People are pretty sophisticated about drugs & alcohol; we get that if you got too far you could die. That's why people stage interventions. But when it comes to climate change and encroaching fascism, too many people still go into an "It'll never happen" kind of magical thinking.

There is a difference between transcendence and denial. There's nothing negative about yelling "FIRE!" if the house is burning down, and there's nothing holy about complacency. Compassionate truth-telling is a loving act.
