I disagree with both of you. Except about the avarice. In an avarice driven society of course civid was always going to ravage. But New Zealand is the most capitalist country in the world and its response to Covid has been near the top. Taiwan is another example.

Twisted misinterpretation of my comment.

America’s greatest resources are the underdeveloped power of the human brain & the under appreciated wisdom of the human heart. If we spent a fraction of the resources we spend on the powers of the external world on developing the power of our citizens we’d be a different country

“The geniuses who did this” is common rhetoric and I said exactly what I meant.

And the most he could say afterwards was, “I was wrong not to wear a mask.”

You make me nostalgic for the days when we could just say “Wow. I don’t agree with that.”

The political geniuses who thought disempowering masses of people would keep them quiet really, really need to retire now. They created a petri dish of dysfunction out of which Trump, Q Anon and the Proud Boys et al have already emerged. Please go home & we’ll take it from here.

This is so outrageous.
I am the Governor's Deputy Digital Director. I see everything that is said about and to her online. Every single time the President does this at a rally, the violent rhetoric towards her immediately escalates on social media. It has to stop. It just has to.

A lot of people in government acknowledge there’s a problem, but until we get the money out of politics then it will be difficult to get those kinds of politicians the power they need to change it. And an effort at “violent overthrow” will achieve nothing but violent repression.

What would be the economic model you would most wish us to emulate, Jesse?

If I could send one book to every major corporate CEO and politician in America and know that they’d read it, it would be “Yertle the Turtle.” It’s all there. Those who make it sound more complicated than that are just obfuscating and they know it; don’t let them.
