Nope! If children go to school where they can’t learn to read by age of 8 - and there are millions of them- they’ll probably never graduate from high school. Their economic problems later in life aren’t just that they don’t “contribute” enough; it’s that our society failed them

He’s not “my boy.” He’s a man I am voting for in order to deny Trump a second term. Biden will provide a pause in the action so the angels of our better nature can politically regroup.

Jefferson said we needed free public education because only a citizenry trained in critical thought would have the wisdom to govern a country. Can you imagine marrying that concept with the modern realization that the citizenry should mean every one of us?

I did not say, or mean, that the nightmare will be over November 4. I said we will have a lot of work to do.

I was there at the time and I can answer that. There was this definite theme that only those who’d spent years driving the car that drove us into this ditch could possibly be considered qualified to lead us out of it. I tried to say that was insane 🤷🏻

This is very important. The Grand Jury might have behaved differently if the case had been presented in a different way. nytimes.com/2020/09/28/us/br…

I don’t agree with that. There’s going to be plenty of work to do after November 4.

I wasn’t arguing with your statistics, I was arguing with their relevance. It’s like saying a plane crash that killed 300 people was not really a big deal given how many tens of thousands of people had flown safely that day. 200,000 deaths is still 200,000 deaths.

It’s a really good idea to read up on American history right now. It’s deeply empowering to know where we’ve been, in order to have a deeper understanding of where we are and what we need to do going forward. Each of us has to take it on ourselves to be leaders in a new era now.

Yes. And theoretically that’s what any good education would do.

That’s like the tiniest bit of dust compared to the multi-trillion dollar theft perpetrated by a corporate aristocracy of companies in health insurance, Big Pharma, oil & gas, gun manufacturing, food & chemicals, Big Ag, and the military industrial complex. Or even Trump’s taxes!

You don’t know what I see. And I still would walk over hot coals to vote for Biden in this election.

None of us know yet but all of us can commit to the process. There has to be a change inside us now, where citizenship becomes a significant factor in what we think of as a well-lived meaningful life.
